Biography
Mary Ann Hamblyn, of Tariki, had seven sons with husband Charles John, but lost four of them in World War One. Henry John, Thomas Day, Edward James and William Charles were all killed in action between 1916-1917 in France. Another son Frederick Leonard was also at War but brought home to New Zealand following his brothers deaths. Her husband, Charles John Hamblyn and their 6th son Osborne George died of influenza in 1918.
