Copy of original studio vignette carte de visite portrait of Captain J.R. Collins of the 70th (Surrey) Regiment. This close-up portrait shows Collins, dressed in military uniform with a sash, facing forward-right. Collins has a small moustache and his hair is parted in the middle. The photograph is included on page 47 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
