Description
A Medal for Deportees and Interned Resisters (Médaille des Déportés et Internés Résistants), 1940-1945. The bronze pentagonal medal features a pair of forearms crossed and chained together with flames in the background. "REPUBLIQUE / FRANCAISE / MEDAILLE / DE /LA/ DEPORTATION / ET / DE / L’INTERNEMENT / POUR / FAITS / DE RESISTANCE above a Cross of Lorraine, symbol of the Free French. It also features Paris Mint cornucopia bronze assay marks. The horizontally striped blue and white ribbon with red edges is for Internees.
