Copy photograph of Captain Charles R Mure, 43rd Regiment. Mure, sometimes also referred to as Muir or Murray, was killed at Pukehinahina (Gate Pa) in Tauranga on 29th April 1864. Mure is wearing a dark coat over light trousers. He is standing with the bottom section of a column to his left and is holding a cane in his right hand. His tophat is sitting on a short stool on his right. Mure has a moustache and full sideburns. The photograph is included on page 31 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
