A Dutch Java War Medal (Medaille van den Oorlog op Java). The octagonal bronze medal features the left facing profile of King Willem I. " KONING WILLEM I. DER NEDERLANDEN" is marked around this. "OORLOG / OP / JAVA. / 1825-1830. "is marked on the reverse within a wreath of oak and palm leaves. The medal is attached to a plain yellow ribbon on a laterally-pierced ball suspension.

These medals were "instituted by Royal Decree on 27 June 1831 and was awarded to Europeans and to native officers who served on Java during the war of 1825-1830 to put down the insurrection against the reimposition of Dutch colonial rule" See:
