Description
An Africa General Service Medal. The silver medal features a left facing profile of Edward VII. " EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR " is marked around the outside. The reverse features a standing Britannia figure alongside a lion. "161690 J. ROGERS CAR. MTE. H.M.S. PROSERPINE " is marked around the edge .The medal is attached to a yellow ribbon with black edges and two thin central green stripes. The ribbon is mounted on cardboard. A " SOMALILAND 1902-04 " clasp is attached.

This medal was awarded to J. Rogers for his service during the campaign in Somaliland between 1902-1904. It was donated to Taranaki Museum as part of the collection of prominent south Taranaki lawyer John Houston.
