Biography
Born in Scotland 1834, Andrew Hastie came to New Zealand via Ballarat. After trying his hand in the Central Otago goldfields, he returned to Ballarat where he married Welsh born Asenath Lavies. In the mid 1860s they came to New Zealand, settling first at Kihikihi, before moving to Opotiki. Later they moved to Auckland before moving to Taranaki (c. 1879). They lived in Manaia. Andrew died 1907-08.
