Biography
The New Plymouth Town Board, predecessor of the Borough Council, was formed in 1863 to administer the town of New Plymouth. The first rates were struck in January 1864. Roading issues were a main concern of the board.
On the 11th August 1876 the Town of New Plymouth achieved the status of a Borough and the first Borough Council meeting was held on the 22 September 1876.
