Biography
William Bolland was born in 1819, the only child of the Rev. William and Sarah Bolland. William was educated at Sherbourne School, Dorset and University College Oxford. In 1841 he married Jane Wright, second daughter of Job and Dorothy Wright. In the same year William, Jane and Jane's brother Phillip Wright and Henry Govett sailed for New Zealand. Ordained in 1842 from St John's College Bolland was sent to New Plymouth as the first Anglican vicar of St Mary's New Plymouth in 1843. He died in 1847 of typhus fever, shortly after the birth of his son William Ernest.
