Biography
Richard Rundle was the brother of Mary Hamblyn and was a builder and ship owner. He lived in a house which later became the White Hart. He leased this house from F.A. Carrington for ten years. Richard Rundle was involved in building the first schooner built in Taranaki (1854) and he also built the first bridge over the Waiwakaiho River (1859).
