Biography
Travelled on the 'Amelia Thompson' in 1841 with his brother Henry Halse. Performed a funeral service along with the Captain of the 'Amelia Thompson', for Mary Shaxon, wife of William Shaxon. William Halse married Harriet Wood on the 24th of July 1856, and they had eleven children. Harriet Wood had also travelled on the 'Amelia Thompson'.
He was appointed Justice of the Peace and in 1848 succeeded F. D. Bell as Resident Agent for the New Zealand Company in New Plymouth. He later became Commissioner of Crown Lands in 1851 and held that office until he entered into business in 1863.
