Biography
Henry Des Forges was born in Lincolnshire, England. He emigrated to New Plymouth, New Zealand, on board the 'Phoebe Dunbar' in 1850. He settled in the New Plymouth area and was employed as a builder before taking up farming. (source: http://thecommunityarchive.org.nz/node/72975/description) He married Emma Tatton, daughter of William Tatton, at St Mary's Church on 16 January 1855. They had four sons and three daughters. He went to Blenheim during the Taranaki Wars in the 1860s.
