Biography
Arthur Herbert Messenger was the sixth son of William and Arabella. Born in 1877, he lived with his family at Pukearuhe and later in Wellington where he joined the Lands and Survey Department as a draughtsman.
Always interested in sketching, he wrote 'Children of the Forest' a memoir of his childhood days at Pukearuhe and contributed articles for the School Journal and illustrations for historical books by James Cowan.
