Biography
One of the first confectionary factories in New Zealand, the Phoenix Coy. LTD, was established in 1858. Phoenix was Hudson & Co’s (later Cadbury’s Confectionery Ltd.) main local rival. Apart from various kinds of chocolate, the company produced biscuits, chocolate creams and cocoa. The Phoenix factory survived a fire in 1901, but closed in 1976.
