Biography
John Flynn arrived in New Plymouth in the early 1860s he fought in the Taranaki Wars and was wounded at the battle of Te Ngutu o te Manu on 8 September 1868. After the wars ended he ran a coach service between Hāwera and New Plymouth and later was a businessman in Hāwera and, together with his wife, became musical leaders in the town.
