Biography
Roy Charters was born in Taranaki and educated at New Plymouth Boys' High School. He started his first photographic subiness in New Plymouth in 1938 and was joined by his lifelong business partner, Rowan Guthrie, in 1945. Charters was a past president of the New Zealand Professional Photographers' Association and was made an honorary fellow of that association in 1982.
