Biography
Born in Monaghan Town, Ireland, William Temple was an assistant surgeon in the Royal Regiment of Artillery during the battle at Waikato in 1863. He was awarded the Victoria Cross, along with Arthur Pickard, at Rangiriri for exposing himself to imminent danger and artillery fire in order to render assistance to wounded commrades, especially Captain Mercer.
Temple died in 1919 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
