Dutch immigrants Martinus van Hoof (known as Martin) (1927-2016) and his wife Wilhelmina (Mina) Lamberdina Van Hoof (1930-2023) from Bell Block with their children Margaretha (Margaret) Mary, Ambrosius Martinus (known as Ambrose) (1955-1970) and Theodora (Tia) Maria Lamberta. The couple came to New Zealand in 1951 and Martin worked as a bricklayer.

Martinus HOOF Obituary VAN HOOF, Martinus: Peacefully at Taranaki Base Hospital, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, 9 February 2016, aged 89 years. Dearly loved husband for 62 years of Wilhelmina. Loved father and father-in-law of Tia and Mike, Ambrose (deceased), Margy and Warwick, Karl and Debby, Josie and Nigel, and Tanya and Shawn. Dearly loved Opa to 11 grandchildren and Great-Opa to 12 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Taranaki would be appreciated and may be left in the Chapel foyer. All messages may be sent to "The van Hoof Family", c/- P. O. Box 4016, New Plymouth. A service for Martinus will be held in the Chapel of W. Abraham 366 Devon Street East New Plymouth on Saturday, 13 February 2016, at 3:00pm, followed by a private cremation. "Much loved and will leave a big hole in our beautiful family." A Great Family ,They lived at Bell Block ,we all went to Bell Block School together. They shifted to just above the NP motorway ,on the RH side going south.Mrs Van Hoof passed away but a few years ago ,Mr Van Hoof many years before ,some of the children still live in NP I think.
