Armed Constabulary member wearing regulation cap, jacket, Bedford cord breeches and boots stands with rifle (Snider carbine) in his hands and a Maori prisoner beside him. The prisoner is on the right side of the guard. He has a full facial beard and sits with his arms rested on his knees. There is bush in the background.
