Description
Site of the new central post office being cleared on lower Currie Street, New Plymouth. Earth moving equipment is visible in the middle of image with several cars around the periphery of the cleared area. The Burgess Fraser & Co. building can be seen in the background on the right with the Jubilee Boarding House next to it. This private hotel was opened in 1897 and demolished on 1 November 1958. The post office was officially opened on 14 May 1959.
