Description
Photograph of a group of veterans of the New Zealand Wars, taken on the fiftieth anniversary of the Battle of Waireka (1860). Six men and one woman are seated on a grassy hill, the woman representing her husband who was ill when the photograph was taken. William Pearn is on the far left hand side of the photograph, next to the "x". Oliver Cook Spurdle (1833-1911) is in the front row, third from left. The photograph has been mounted on a piece of card.
The Taranaki Daily News of Wednesday 30 March 1910 reported a Jubilee Dinner as being held on "Monday last".
