Group of three Maori brothers, one wearing a navy serviceman uniform and a cap reading 'H.M.S. Achilles'. They are the sons of William Norton Bertrand and Queenie Emma Bertrand (nee Adlam) of Purangi.
From left: Bennett Llewllyn Bertrand (b.1923, service number 83363), Fergus Bertrand and George David (Dave) Bertrand (service number WWII 286881, who also served in Jayforce). Bennett, also known as Bennie, was killed in action on 7 June 1944, aged 20 and is buried in Cassino War Cemetery, Italy.
