Photograph of the first Committee of Management at Parihaka. Three rows of men lined up in front of Wiremu Parata's house. The men are dressed in suits and most are wearing hats. Many have feathers attached to their hats or suits. Taare Waitara is seated in the middle row, second from the left. Rangi Matotoru Watene is seated in the middle row, second from the right, with a raukura (feather) in his pocket.
There is also a gathering of men, children, and one woman standing at the top of the hill in the background, watching the photograph being taken.
