Photograph of lower Brougham Street in New Plymouth. Buildings line the the sides of the road, including Richard Brown's Merchant Store (front left) with the and the Royal Hotel (previously the Taranaki Hotel) behind and the Provincial Council Bulding across the road. There is a wooden fence on the right hand side of the image with the foot of Mt Elliot behind. Marsland Hill Barracks can be seen in the background on the right hand side of the photograph. Brougham Street goes uphill into the distance.
