Landscape carte-de-visite of Devon Street in New Plymouth. Group of men, including Sergeant Duffin and Bellman, standing on Devon Street. Buildings line the left side of the street. There are ladders up against the facade of the third building from the right. Other people can be seen in the background of the photograph. There is a pile of lumber on the right side of the image.

Public comments
Sergeant John Duffin (c.1832-12 Dec 1911). There is a photo of him in the Auckland Library Heritage Images online titled ' DEATH OF A TARANAKI VETERAN: THE LATE SERGT-MAJOR DUFFIN.' He was a soldier but later joined the police force and was working in New Plymouth by 1865. He retired sometime in or after 1898.
