Carte-de-visite of Richard Jones (there is some question as to whether or not the subject is actually Richard Jones) of the Taranaki Military Settlers and Armed Constabulary. Jones is dressed in military uniform and he is wearing a cap. He holds his sword with his left hand while resting his right hand on the back of a chair. He is leaning on the armrest of a couch. He stands beside a fake window, to his right, which shows a view to a garden with stone pedestal decoration. There is a curtain on the right side of the window.
