Lodge man Alexander Black (1851-1940) wearing regalia and standing behind an open book on a lectern. Alexander ran the newly established Patea Mail newspaper (established in 1875) after an apprenticeship at the Taranaki Herald. He was a Masonic Lodge member for 67 years and acted as Worshipful Master at Kilwinning Lodge in Patea from 1879-1881.

This is Alexander Black. Born c.1851 in in New Plymouth. Died 1940 in New Plymouth. He ran the newly established “Patea Mail” newspaper (1875) after his initial apprenticeship at the Taranaki Herald in New Plymouth. After leaving Patea he was involved in a number of other newspapers. He was a Masonic Lodge member for 67 years.
