 Description
William (Bill) Frank Ashman (1914-1970) posing with a bicycle beside the Rudge Whitworth Challenge Cup. Ashman won the 145-mile Waimate to Christchurch professional bike race in 1935 but his name is spelt incorrectly on the trophy as 'Ashaman'. There is also a prize ribbon for winning the Inglewood Cycle Club's Championship in 1934, a smaller trophy and four certificates.

The trophy is undoubtedly the Rudge Whitworth Challenge Cup. Ashman won the Waimate to Christchurch (145 miles) professional race in 1935. I have inspected the trophy recently, and his name on it is spelt incorrectly as Ashaman.
