The first G-TARanaki International Guitar Festival took place throughout Taranaki from 15-19 July 2008.
The festival consisted of workshops, forums, the Sky Academy, midnight sessions and two concerts at the TSB Stadium in New Plymouth featuring artists such as Matthew Marshall, Alex Skolnick, Tim Donahue, Glenn Hughes, Vernon Reid, Gilby Clarke, Gray Bartlett, Uli Jon Roth and headliner Joe Satriani.
