This soda syphon box, designed to hold six syphons, was manufactured in London and used by Peillon Bros, who operated from the Princess Street Aerated Water Factory in Hawera between 1912 and 1914. The factory was established in 1887 by Nathaniel and Mark Johnston and it had various owners before it was purchased by Paul George Peillon in 1912. The factory was bought by David John Goodwin in 1914. Goodwin already operated an aerated water factory in Hawera and appears to have closed the Princess Street factory down soon after he bought it. Very few examples of bottles or other material from the Peillon period of operation are known to survive.
