Group of six in garden. Wedding party of Joseph Alexander (Alec) Hamill and Vera May Hamill (nee Billing) who married in the Methodist Church at Rahotu on 18 July 1935. Bridesmaids are Lorraine Andrews and Jean Calendar; bestman, Donald Andrews; groomsman, James Hamill (brother of groom). The couple lived on a few acres on Lower Kahui Road, Rahotu.

Vera May BILLING md J. Alexander HAMILL on 18th July 1935 at the Rahotu Methodist Church. The Bridesmaids were Miss Lorraine ANDREWS and Miss Jean CALLENDER; Bestman, Don ANDREWS; Groomsman, James- "Jim" HAMILL brother of Groom. They lived on a few acres on the Lower Kahui Road, Rahotu village. Kept 2 or 3 house cows- Walking them one at a time to the family 'Home Farm' at Tipoka mating time. Alex always had a large vegetable garden . Alex became the local barber and handyman fix-it man, sharpening scissors, tools, etc. He bought an elderly canvas sided school bus and ferried children to primary then to Opunake High school and sports teams from Rahotu. He bought a new bus which greatly improved comfort and capacity ( can't just find the details- Look up Rahotu School Centennial Book) Both very involved in local Church affairsfund raising and maintainance. They retired to a Masonic Flat in Opunake, .Alex still gardening until his death- 3 May 1995. Vera spent her final years in Opunake Cottage Rest Home.
