Description
A New Zealand War Service Medal 1939-45. The cupro-nickel medal features a portrait of King George VI on the obverse."GEORGE IVS VI D:G: BR OMN:REX FD :IND:IMP" is embossed around the outside. Two fern fronds act as the suspender for the medal. "FOR/SERVICE TO/NEW ZEALAND/1939-1945" is embossed on the reverse of the medal which is attached to a black ribbon edged by thin white stripes. A large pin mechanism is attached to the ribbon.
