Oral history recording. Thomas Stuart Dickson Hayton (1910-2011) describes his service in the Second World War with the 25th Battalion, 6th Brigade, 2nd Division (Infantry). Known as Stuart, Hayton's brothers Gilbert and Alan and sister Lilian also served. Stuart's unit was Field Security - counter-intelligence or espionage. He discusses this, mentioning Thaddeus McCarthy, Peter Fraser and Selwyn Toogood. At the end of the war he was involved with getting the foreign-born wives of Kiwi soldiers back to New Zealand.
