Description
Split negative of two Air Force servicemen, brothers Stephen William Holder (1919-1978) and Donald Fraser Holder (1922-1944). Sons of Albert William Holder and Leila Beatrice Holder (nee Burrows), the brothers both served in the RNZAF. Donald was killed in action over Germany on 27 August 1944 and has no known grave but is remembered on the Runnymede War Memorial in Surrey. Donald's brother Stephen William Holder (1919-1978) took part in more than 37 operations over Europe in a Lancaster bomber before being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1944.
