Four Air Force servicemen wearing RAF uniforms. From left to right: unidentified man, Philip Kenyon Norcross (1923-1943), Frank Scott (1922-1994) and Colin Cavell Roots (1922-2003).

Of the three identified, all departed on the ship Dominion Monarch to Manitoba, Canada for their flight training during the Second World War.
Pilot Philip Norcross (service number 421086) was the son of Frederick and Edna Norcross from Inglewood and was killed on active service in England on 2 March 1943 at the age of 19. Colin Roots (service number 421098) from Patea was 20 years old at the time of the photograph and also based in England after his training.
