Description
An inscribed silver table snuff box which is gilded inside. " PRESENTED TO / R G Brewster Esqr MRCSL &c&r / by the Members of the / ASHTON UNDER LYNE / New Medical Dispensary / as a Token of Respect for his valuable Services / AS SURGEON TO THAT INSTITUTION / APRIL 1843. " is marked on the top of the lid. The inscription is bordered by a foliate border including acorns.The snuff box has a hinged lid. A piece of paper bearing a printed crest is inside the box. " RECTITUDO CUM FIRMITATE " is marked on a scroll which is part of the crest and " John Brewster " is printed below it in flowing script. " N M " is marked on the interior along with a lion and a left facing profile.
