Cyclist Neville Haynes Bellringer (1908-1984) who won the North Island cycle road race championship, from Hamilton to Auckland, on 22 September 1928. His prize was £15, the Dunlop Challenge Cup for one year, a miniature of the same for keeps, a Brampton racing cycle and £1 for the fastest time between Onehunga and the Showgrounds. His son Ian won the Taranaki Round the Mountain cycle road race in 1950.
