"Kotukutuku, Konini, Matapo"

Production date
Nov 1904
Description
Unstretched oil on canvas painting of a plant with purple-pink flowers and dark berries, along with varying green and yellow shades of foliage. The background is rendered predominantly in reds, pinks, browns and greens.

Fanny has identified the plant species at "Kotukutuku", or tree fuchsia, and its berries as "kōnini", which is the Māori term for the dark purple berries. Matapo is also identified, referring to wavy yellow-green leaves present towards the bottom of the painting.
