Description
Two scrapbooks created by Betty Dalgleish on the 'History of Dalgleish Jewellers Limited 85 Devon Street West New Plymouth' and a family genealogy ' Dalgleish Family Ancestry'.

Established by C.H. Drew as a watchmakers, jewellers and optician in 1911, the business was sold to Mr Garnham who then sold to Virtue Dalgleish in 1919. Son Ian Dalgleish took over the business in 1951 after the death of his father. Alterations and additions were made to the building in 1967 and the business was sold in 1992 but members of the Dalgleish family remain involved in operations. The store is now located at 7 Devon Street West.

I have a jewellery box which was my great great grandfather/mother in its near original condition. I would love to know the vintage of it. Is the invoices still available from early 1900's or earlier that I can peruse to see what was bought at that time. I do have jewellery purchased earlier than that also
