Procession of armed servicemen, New Plymouth

Description
A large crowd gathered along Devon Street in New Plymouth to watch a procession, possibly part of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee celebrations on 22 June 1897. There is a formation of armed servicemen on the street outside the Criterion Hotel. People are standing on horse-drawn carts in the foreground outside Ambury Brothers and to the middle of the image a crowd is gathered on the balcony of the Criterion building. A large power pole is prominent in the foreground.
