"Mr and Mrs Samuel Matthews"
Description
Carte-de-visite of Mr Samuel Matthews and his wife Mary Matthews (nee Marshall). Mary Williams (1803-1898) married William Marshall in 1835 and the couple immigrated to Taranaki with their three sons on the ship William Bryan. William died in October 1841 after being kicked by a horse and Mary married Samuel Matthews (-1903) on 14 November 1862.

I've just realised this must be my 2xGr-Grandmother, Mary Williams b1803. After marrying Wm Marshall 5 Jan 1835 they had 3 sons & came to NZ on 'Wm Bryan'. Wm Marshall died Oct 1841 after being kicked by a horse. Mary [Marshall] marr Sam 14 Nov 1862, so perhaps this is their wedding photo?? [she was 59, he's 46]]
