Description
Oral history. Born in 1915 in Cokerry, Ireland. Relation John Hicky was visiting them and suggested the family immigrate to NZ. Sailed on the Ruahine and landed in Wgtn in 1927. Bused to Opuanke where the Hickeys had arranged a house for them and Father milked for Hickeys for two years. Shifted to Pungarehu with Father working in Opunake. Having trained as a teacher, Nora moved ot Nelson and became Principal at Richmond Special School for girls. School needed upgrading which Nora was responsible for. Retired and moved back to Taranaki after 40 years and worked at the New Plymouth Prison for over fourteen years.
