Description
Oral history. June had a Welsh upbringing, including learning and being educated in the Welsh language. Trained as a teacher in Bangar as a primary and secondary teacher, studying English as a subject. Taught English in her old school and gained interest in teaching children with special needs. Married 1986 in Bangar. Toured New Zealand in 1988 for six weeks, travelling by tandem bicycle. Decided to settle here, paid their own passage, but entered as tourists. Worked at New Plymouth Girls' High and now with Open Homes Foundation. Sees similar bilingual situation between Wales and New Zealand. She comments on the different educational system in Wales and New Zealand.
