Description
Two art books and 40 sheets of water coloured sketches showing local scenes, ships, musicians, Taranaki landscapes. Also a few illustrations of trips to Auckland and Wellington. Most are titled and dated.
Born and raised in New Plymouth, Barry Hartley started painting while still at school and was taught by local artist, Thelma Green. He continued painting and sketching using the medium to record the environment about him until, in the early 1960s, photography became his chosen medium. 1958 - 1961
