Portrait of early settler Thomas King (1821-1893), who immigrated to Taranaki on the Plymouth Company ship William Bryan in 1841. King was first chairman of the Pukekura Park Board of Trustees and chairman of the Harbour Board. Thomas and his wife Mary's children included auctioneer Newton King and Sir Frederic Truby King, the founder of Plunket.
