Paramoudra
are
cylindrical
fossils
made
of
a
calcium
carbonate
'concrete'.
They
are
usually
found
among
stones
on
the
beach,
and
often
have
a
central
hole.
They
are
also
known
as
'Māori
sinkers'
because
of
their
shape,
which
is
similar
to
sinkers
used
by
Māori
in
earlier
times.
