Teaspoon

Description
A silver plated teaspoon which features Ngamotu Beach and commemorates the New Zealand Centenary celebrations in 1940. The teaspoon features an enamelled scene of the beach at the end of the handle. " NGAMOTU BEACH / NEW PLYMOUTH N.Z / N.Z CENTENARY 1940" is written on scroll designs above and below the scene. "EXQUISITE PLATE" is stamped on the reverse of the handle.

This teaspoon was found among the estate of Jack and Milly Nisbet by their nephew Graeme Johns in 2003. The Nisbets operated the Palladium tearooms at Ngamotu Beach during the 1930s and 1940s and were involved in various paid and unpaid roles on the beach until the mid 1960s.
