Oral history. Schooling at Central School and New Plymouth Boys' High School, the Fitter and turner apprentice at Cambrian Engineering. Describes - very reptitive, no overalls, earmuffs, safety boots or glasses. 1953 worked for J B McEwan making cheese crates. Peter then joined Cameron and Boulton for 2-3 years, then returned to Cambrian as a foreman in 1956. He travelled to Australia and Japan in 1983 to study quality control and robotics. Became assistant works manager 1972 until in his retirement in 1993. Cambrian engineering work was mostly contact engineering.
