Description
This screen consists of an inclined wooden frame with two narrow sloping sides. The front and sides are covered with brass sheeting, and this is nailed on in three sections. Decorated with a large peacock with its tail studded with green stones, and sitting before a branch of leaves and flowers. Approximate date 1910-20.

This
screen
is
used
to
cover
the
open
fireplace
when
it
was
not
being
used.
It
blocked
the
draught
and
the
thought
of
the
cooler
winter
months
by
bringing
the
garden
inside
with
its
peacock
design.
It
was
hand
made
by
Mrs
Williams,
Richard
Cock's
daughter,
likely
in
the
1920s.
