Box, Jewellery

Description
A small chest shaped wooden jewellery box covered with a dark red, possibly paper, material. It has a cloth hinged lid, and the lid and sides of the box were originally reinforced with strips of tin. But a strip at one side of the lid is missing. A blank presentation plaque is attached to the lid. The interior is padded with blue cloth which is studded with red fasteners. " Jewell- Box / Made in London in 1775. Presented by Stella to John Lawson Collection / Stratford " is handwritten on a card accompanying the box. A key is held inside but it does not fit the lock.
